Why is
time so important?
I use to believe the earth was billions of years old. Then one
day some one ask a question that changed the way I read scripture..., They said
how did any one die before Adam sinned? Then I realized either the bible is
right the way it is written or it can't be trusted.
But also If the earth is not billions of
years old the whole concept of evolution is destroyed. Even the most devout
evolutionist would never believe that evolution has happened with in a few
thousand years. It would have had to happen so quickly that it would
be noticed in recorded history.
This is why they (evolutionist) insist the earth must be
millions and billions of years old. They will never except a global flood no
matter all the evidence because if the flood laid down the coal, buried all the
animals in sediment, and dug out all the canyons then the millions, and billions
of years is impossible to detect. I have researched lots of text books from 2nd
grade all the way through college level. The ages given very greatly from 8 billion to 20
billion years for the origin of the universe. The point is not the age but "long ago and far way".
Even one Billion years is really to large a time scale for the average
person to wrap their mind around. Most people some what "tune out" when they
hear a number that large. They just assume the numbers are correct. But all
dating methods are based on assumptions about the past. The most common
question asked about the relatively "young" age of the earth is...
What about carbon dating, and radiometric dating methods.
Don't they show the earth is billions of years old. This is actually very easy to explain but I
will do that separately here.
Below we shall see there are many ways to show the earth can
not be millions and especially billions of years old.
Remember nothing can go back beyond the youngest process as an
indicator of age. The youngest indicators set an upper limit for the age of the
earth.
We will examine ten examples of youth here but there are
hundreds of examples that can be giving. The times listed below
are maximum possible ages not the actually age.
Also remember for evolution to even be thinkable the earth must be billions of
years old.
1. Not enough Helium in the
atmosphere.
Radiometric decay has a by product called helium. As the
helium is created by the decay process it works it's way out of the rocks and
into the atmosphere. Well if the earth is billions of years old as radiometric
decays seems to indicate there should be significantly more helium in the
atmosphere. We would all talk like Mickey mouse! This
limits the age of the earth to less then 7000 years! This also shows that
radiometric decay was greatly accelerated in the pass. (much faster then it is
today thus explaining why radiometric decay gives "old" ages).
2. Comets burn up to quickly.
Comets are made mostly of ice. As they get close to the sun they
melt a little and lose their size. Scientist have
calculated that this process would only take about 10000 years before all
the comets in our solar system would be complete gone. Well why do we have so
many comets left? Some evolutionary websites say there is a huge black cloud way
out in space (they call it the ort cloud) that is sending comets into our solar
system. The problem is it doesn't work and you can't show any evidence of it
being there except that if it is not there the solar system can't be millions or
billions of years old. So by faith (faith in evolution) it must be there because
we see comets and they "know" the earth is old.
3. Too much carbon in diamonds
Diamonds are suppose to date back millions of years but carbon
can only date back thousands of years. 50,000 years is a
limit set by carbon dating. The problem is when we check for carbon in
diamonds there is clearly measurable carbon 14 in the diamonds. A diamond is the
hardest substances known to man so you can't say it was contaminated. The only
conclusion is that diamonds are thousands of years old, not millions.
4. Spiral Galaxies wind up to quickly.
We see out in space many galaxies that spin in a spiral disk.
Well the inside is spinning faster then the outside and effectively winding up
like a watch spring. Evolutionist call this the "winding-up dilemma".
 They
recognized that it was a probably over 50 years ago. they "wind up" so quickly
that If the universe is more then a few hundred million
years (not 10 to 20 Billion) then it should be a featureless disk.
Not having the long spiral arms. it must be less then hundreds of millions
NOT billions.
5. Biological material decays to
quickly.
Recent measurements of mutation rate in mitochondrial DNA
forced researchers to change the original estimated age of "Mitochondrial
Eve" to an age of 6500 years. That means the "mother of all living" came about
6,500 years. This is an incredible discovery being that the bible had it right
all along. DNA experts say that DNA can't exist in natural environments for
longer the 10,000 years yet intact DNA has been found in fossil insects,
dinosaurs, and even soft tissue of a T-Rex was found recently astonishing
evolutionary experts.
